Tannery Bay GroundbreakingAlthough Tannery Bay—the site of a former leather tannery on White Lake—is quiet now, planning for its future development is very active. “We’re excited to be as close to groundbreaking as we are,” says Eastbrook Homes’ Corporate Development President, Bob Sorensen. “We’ve done everything we can and are just waiting for final sign-offs and all the pieces to fall into place.”

Once they do, a brand new community will rise on the 33 acres that were once the grounds of the Whitehall Leather Company tannery. Eastbrook Homes has preserved a variety of artifacts from the140-year-old structure, and builders will integrate these giant timbers, tanning drums and other pieces of history into Tannery Bay’s buildings and landscaping. “We’ll be remembering and telling the story of the tannery in a variety of ways,” adds Sorensen.Tower Demolition
